The Birth Of A Borderless Musical

What kind of musical will be birthed when artists of different cultures and backgrounds come together?

Our challenge is to pair up new collaborators remotely to write a song cycle musical in three weeks. A song cycle musical is a musical with independently written songs woven together with an overarching theme. The entire creative process will be recorded and streamed online a documentary to promote this new way of collaboration.

Our new musical is bound to be a dynamic display of songs and lyrics written by a diverse team of creators.

Musicals also require actors and live accompaniment. We will be further pushing our limits by attempting to recreate the theater experience online.

Mentored by Top-notched Artists

The mentors include the following artists: Broadway writer/composer, Rob Rokicki (“The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” etc.), as the overall mentor, Broadway director, Stafford Arima (“Allegiance” etc.), as director’s advisor, Broadway actor, Telly Leung (“Aladdin” etc.), as actors’ advisor and Mariko Kojima (Producer at TOHO CO., LTD). The team will be there to support the entire creation process.

Borderless Collaboration

In a new era that focuses on diversity and borderless, we believe that it is essential to have a space for creators from different cultures and backgrounds to collaborate with one another. By connecting creators across different countries through the limitless world of the Internet, we are aiming to be the pioneers of borderless art and theater.

Documentary of the Creation Process

All collaborations will be done online. The process will be filmed and they will be released on Youtube weekly with 5 episodes. The last release will include the end product created by the teams.
